About Fesia Walk – Advanced Gait Rehabilitation

Fesia Walk is an advanced, wearable rehabilitation device designed to help people experiencing foot drop and walking difficulties following neurological injury or illness.

Using Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), the device delivers carefully controlled electrical impulses to activate muscles in the lower leg, helping to lift and position the foot during walking. Its innovative multi-field electrode technology allows precise stimulation, adapting to individual movement needs and supporting more natural walking patterns.

At Resilience Neuro Specialists, Fesia Walk forms part of personalised neurorehabilitation programmes, combining advanced technology with specialist physiotherapy to help individuals improve mobility, walking confidence and independence.

Available at our Warwickshire and Teesside centres.

How it Works

Fesia Walk uses Functional Electrical Stimulation to activate the muscles responsible for lifting and lowering the foot during walking.

The device delivers electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the lower leg, stimulating the nerves that control ankle and foot movement.

It supports two important movements:

  1. Dorsiflexion – lifting the foot upwards to help clear the ground when stepping forward.
  2. Plantarflexion – pointing the foot downwards to support the push-off phase of walking.

Unlike traditional FES systems that primarily focus on lifting the foot, Fesia Walk can stimulate both movements at the appropriate stages of the walking cycle. Its advanced multi-field electrode automatically helps identify suitable stimulation settings, allowing treatment to be tailored to each individual’s needs.

The technology enables:

  • Targeted activation of lower leg muscles
  • Support for foot clearance during walking
  • Stimulation of both ankle lifting and push-off movements
  • More coordinated and controlled walking practice
  • Personalised stimulation settings
  • Monitoring of walking activity and rehabilitation progress

Our specialist neurological physiotherapists use Fesia Walk alongside gait training and other rehabilitation techniques to support meaningful, functional improvements.

Who can benefit from Fesia Walk?

Fesia Walk is designed for people experiencing foot drop, reduced ankle control or difficulty walking following neurological injury or illness. Fesia Walk may help individuals practise more controlled walking movements as part of a personalised rehabilitation programme.
Fesia Walk

Valuable for a range of conditions

  • Stroke – supporting walking rehabilitation and improved foot control following a stroke
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) – helping manage foot drop and walking difficulties associated with MS
  • Incomplete spinal cord injury – supporting lower limb movement and gait rehabilitation
  • Cerebral palsy – providing targeted stimulation to support ankle movement and walking practice
  • Traumatic brain injury – helping individuals rebuild walking coordination and mobility
  • Other neurological conditions – supporting people experiencing foot drop or reduced control of ankle movements

Precise stimulation supports better walking

Walking depends on carefully coordinated movements between the muscles, nerves and joints. Following neurological injury, these movements can become disrupted, making everyday mobility more difficult.

Fesia Walk uses advanced multi-field stimulation technology to activate muscles at specific points in the walking cycle. By supporting both foot lifting and push-off, the device can help individuals practise more coordinated walking movements.

Its personalised stimulation settings allow therapists to adapt treatment to each person’s abilities, walking pattern and rehabilitation goals. This targeted approach aims to support more effective gait training and help individuals work towards improved mobility.

At Resilience, we combine this technology with specialist neurological physiotherapy, ensuring that every programme focuses on individual goals and meaningful improvements in daily life.
